We are a cooperative of American citizens who care enough to band together and fight for a stronger democracy. Below are four of our guiding members.
John Huang
Mr. Huang is the founder of AFR and a mechanical engineer working in Houston, TX. He received his Master’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin. Like lots of Americans, Mr. Huang is fed up with the ineptitude of American government and believes that ordinary people can make America better.
Darryl Alexander
Mr. Alexander is the Director of Operations of AFR. He has a B.S. in psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Alexander’s time as an Americorps VISTA and a Peace Corps Volunteer showed him how powerful organized communities can be. This realization motivated him to join AFR and help to empower normal citizens.
Laura Blewitt
Ms. Blewitt is the Director of Communications and Philanthropy of AFR. She works in fintech marketing and is a former business journalist. She holds a B.S. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. A career in journalism during the Trump era moved Ms. Blewitt to give up objectivity and fight social and climate injustice.
Lorra Garey
Ms. Garey is the Director of Voting Rights of AFR and holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Houston. She completed her B.A. in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin.
